Winner: Echo Artistry Competition

In early 2025, PiCSA, in collaboration with the Foundation Seminar in Paediatric Echocardiography team, hosted the Echo Artistry Competition!

The challenge was to create a unique piece of artwork that represented the world of paediatric echocardiography, anatomy, or any aspect of congenital heart disease physiology. entries were encouraged to be as creative as possible, whether it was a hand-drawn masterpiece, a detailed model, or even a photograph – the possibilities were endless!

The competition received an incredible range of entries, and the judging was highly competitive. Ultimately, the winner was Karen Mao with her stunning “Crocheted Heart”, an intricate and beautiful representation of the subject.

Other notable entries included Lily Chan’s “Little Corner” – a charming distraction or conversation starter in the echo room to help ease patients before an echocardiogram. Ruth Ramm also contributed with a brilliant “Colour by Numbers” piece to help understand the Arterial Switch Operation.

The winner received a ticket to the 3rd Foundation Seminar in Paediatric Echocardiography seminar as well as $500 to cover travel expenses.

A huge thank you to everyone who participated and supported the competition. The creativity and passion demonstrated were truly inspiring!
