Professionals in Cardiac Sciences Australia (PiCSA) Joins Allied Health Professions Australia (AHPA)

PiCSA is proud to announce its acceptance as an Ordinary Member of Allied Health Professions Australia (AHPA), the recognised national peak body for allied health professionals and their representative organisations.

This membership is a significant milestone in the advancement of cardiac physiology as a self-regulating health profession. It recognises PiCSA’s work in professional leadership, policy development, and sector engagement.

As the collective voice for allied health, AHPA plays a critical role in shaping national healthcare policy, workforce planning, and cross-sector collaboration. Through this new partnership, cardiac physiologists will now be formally represented in national forums and consultations, ensuring their contributions and concerns are included in high-level health system decision-making.

Strengthening Our Voice, Expanding Our Influence

Becoming a member of AHPA enhances PiCSA’s capacity to:

  • Advocate for appropriate recognition, scope of practice, and regulatory inclusion

  • Engage in national discussions about workforce sustainability and health system reform

  • Champion collaborative practice across all cardiac physiology modalities — including ECG, echocardiography, EP, cath lab, and device management

  • Build new networks, resources, and professional development opportunities for members

This is a vital step toward greater visibility and influence for the cardiac physiology profession, one that supports PiCSA’s mission to lead, connect, and advance the profession for the benefit of patients and the broader healthcare system.

We extend our sincere thanks to AHPA for welcoming PiCSA into its membership and look forward to contributing to a unified allied health voice.
