October is recognised globally as Medical Ultrasound Awareness Month (MUAM), a time to acknowledge the crucial role sonographers play within the healthcare community. As specialists in ultrasound, sonographers are celebrated for their vital contributions to patient care.
In Australia and New Zealand, we have an additional reason to celebrate. Australasian Sonographers Day (ASD) is held annually on 27 October, and it is a special opportunity for the Australasian Sonographers Association (ASA) to honour the profession. This day is dedicated to recognising the skills, dedication, and impact of sonographers across the region.
We invite all sonographers to join us in celebrating ASD this October. There are numerous ways you can participate and demonstrate your pride in your profession:
Host a Morning Tea: Gather with your colleagues to enjoy a morning tea in honour of ASD on Friday 25 October. It’s a great way to share experiences and recognise the important work you do. Register your morning tea for Friday 25 October, then post a photo of your morning tea using #proudtobeasonographer to go in the running to win five water bottles for your team.
