SUMMARY:Allied Health Professions Day
DESCRIPTION:Allied Health Professions Day is celebrated annually on 14 October. This year the main theme ‘Stronger together’\, highlights the benefits of multidisciplinary team-based care. While it is well known that allied health professionals play a key role in the health and wellbeing of all Australians\, health system reform is finally recognising the value\, both economic and clinical\, of multidisciplinary care. \nIt is vital that allied health professionals are recognised alongside their nursing and medical colleagues for their role in designing and implementing a comprehensive healthcare system\, that truly wraps around the consumer. \nWe encourage all to get involved. More information and a digital kit is available here.

SUMMARY:Australasian Sonographers Day
DESCRIPTION:October is recognised globally as Medical Ultrasound Awareness Month (MUAM)\, a time to acknowledge the crucial role sonographers play within the healthcare community. As specialists in ultrasound\, sonographers are celebrated for their vital contributions to patient care. \nIn Australia and New Zealand\, we have an additional reason to celebrate. Australasian Sonographers Day (ASD) is held annually on 27 October\, and it is a special opportunity for the Australasian Sonographers Association (ASA) to honour the profession. This day is dedicated to recognising the skills\, dedication\, and impact of sonographers across the region. \nHow you can get involved\nWe invite all sonographers to join us in celebrating ASD this October. There are numerous ways you can participate and demonstrate your pride in your profession: \nHost a Morning Tea: Gather with your colleagues to enjoy a morning tea in honour of ASD on Friday 25 October. It’s a great way to share experiences and recognise the important work you do. Register your morning tea for Friday 25 October\, then post a photo of your morning tea using #proudtobeasonographer to go in the running to win five water bottles for your team. \nRegister your workplace morning tea HERE

SUMMARY:Sports Heart Summit
DESCRIPTION:About\nThe “must-attend” event for anyone involved in exercise cardiology!\nWelcome to the 3rd Sports Heart Summit\nIncreasingly we are recognising the complexity of the athletes’ heart and the effects on cardiac physiology with exercise. The nuances of this patient group and unique challenges they present have resulted in the emergence of the sports cardiologist role\, as well as a more integrated role of the exercise physiologist. \nSports Cardiology not only recognizes the effects of exercise on the athlete’s heart\, but also acknowledges sport as a recreation\, and exercise as a therapy. The sessions dedicated to sports cardiology at international cardiac meetings are always well attended\, but rarely have enough allocated time to delve into the topic as thoroughly as needed. Now is the time to rethink how we approach continuing education within this sub-specialty. \nThis unique event is aimed at cardiologists\, exercise physiologists\, physicians and researchers with an interest in sports cardiology. \n\n\n\n\nCLICK TO REGISTER

SUMMARY:CSANZ 4th Indigenous Cardiovascular Health Conference
DESCRIPTION:The 4th Indigenous Cardiovascular Health Conference of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand will be held in Sydney\, Australia from 17-19 June 2025. \nOver the last decade\, the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSANZ) has increased its attention and focus on the burden and inequalities in Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) experienced by Aboriginal\, Torres Strait Islander\, Māori and Pacific peoples in Australia and New Zealand. Central to the CSANZ’s mandate\, driving better cardiovascular health outcomes for all communities is a core ambition. \nCSANZ has convened meetings focused on CVD in Indigenous communities in 2009\, 2011 and 2019\, each of which produced important recommendations that if implemented\, would guide improved Cardiovascular Health for the regions’ First peoples. In Australia\, prior outcomes of these meetings have informed the establishment of National Programs and policy to reduce CVD inequity. \nThe aims of the forthcoming Conference are to move beyond describing the inequalities that exist and explore the role of self-determination of Indigenous peoples in improving CV outcomes. \nThe Conference seeks to involve 200 delegates from across Australia and New Zealand to chart the way forward for CSANZ in partnership with Indigenous communities and service providers. We invite those working in the Cardiovascular and Indigenous Health sectors\, including: \n\nCardiologists / Medical Specialists\nGeneral Practitioners\nNurses\, Allied Health and Public Health Workers\nIndigenous Health Practitioners\nRegistrars\nGovernment and Health Department Officials\nPolicy Drivers\nHealth Promotion Specialists\nNon-Government Representatives\n\nWe look forward to sharing this unique event and welcoming you to Sydney in 2025. \nCLICK TO REGISTER
